About the series

The Brigham Young Podcast is an in-depth look at one of the most important and complicated figures in Mormon history. John Dehlin is joined by historian John G. Turner, author of Brigham Young: Pioneer Prophet (2012), the biography many historians consider the best account of Brigham Young’s life.

The series follows Brigham from his hardscrabble New England childhood and his conversion to Joseph Smith’s church, through Kirtland, Missouri, Nauvoo, and the succession crisis, to the exodus west, the founding of Utah, polygamy, the Utah War, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and his decades as prophet, governor, and colonizer. New episodes are released weekly.

The Brigham Young Podcast is produced by Mormon Stories Podcast and the Open Stories Foundation. Every episode is also published in the main Mormon Stories feed. It follows the completed Joseph Smith Podcast, which covered Turner’s biography of Joseph Smith.
